Pembrey Park
A Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival Ride: From the car park, join the Millennium Coast Path heading west (NCR 4). Head overv the bridge and onto wooden cycle way (take care if wet); onto gravel track. There is a short, 10 – 20 metre stretch where it will be necessary to dismount as the track is very rough and rocky. After this, the track is dirt and gravel to the Wildfowl centre. Follow the path swinging south around Machynys Golf Club with great view south over the estuary to Gower. Proceed on tarmac cycle path to Llanelli and North Dock. Continue west past the Pavilion Cafe and on through the small harbour at Burry Port. Keep heading west along the path to Pembrey and into teh country Park where we hope to do a circuit of Wales' only Closed Road Cycling Circuit, a 1.5mile route used for racing events. We'll swing north east out of the park for lunch at Daisy's Cafe. After lunch we'll pick up a cycle path heading east through Ashburnham along the canal to Burry Port, rejoin the cycle track to North Dock, and follow a path on the north side of Machynys to the wildfowl centre, and back to Bynea.
Start and end at Bynea Car park.
Highlights: A ride on The National Closed Road Cycle Route, views across the estuary to Gower.
