Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival 2025: ride 14 – Upper Lliw Reservoir
ir A Swansea and Gower Cycling Festival Ride: Follow the cycle path north to Gowerton, cross the road and pick up the new cycle path through Gorseinon and towards Pontardulais, coming off at Station Road, follow to the end and turn right on the B4296. After approx half mile, turn right onto Alltygraban Road, and then another right and follow to Pontlliw. Climb for 1.5 miles, (max 12%, average 5%) and turn sharp right at the crossroads. The road drops towards the village of Felindre, before a short, sharp climb, 250 yards (max 17%). At the top turn left and follow the rolling road for approx half a mile to the turn off for the reservoirs. Its just under 3 undulating miles to the upper reservoir, before returning to the cafe at the lower lake. After lunch, return to the main road, and head east, on quiet country lanes through Rhydypandy and Craig Cefn Parc where there is a steep descent to the bridge, but we stay on the west side of the river, following a scenic cycle track into Clydach, through a small estate and into Ynystawe park, before crossing over the Tawe to join the cycle path – NCR 43 – and follow the river back to Swansea. Through the marina and on to the bay promenade, sweeping south around the bay to Blackpill, where we head north on the Clyne Valley cycle path back to the start. Start and end at Dunvant RFC.
