Henryhd Falls from Sainsbury’s SA1, Swansea
Henryhd Falls
A Swansea & Gower Cycling Festival Ride: Leave Sainsbury's over the Sail Bridge, turn left on to King's Rd, cross the main road and drop down on to the cycle path, NCR 43, heading north along the banks of the river Tawe. Follow the path all the way to Clydach, cross over main road and continue on the path, cycling between the river and the canal through Pontardawe and on to Ystalyfera. Join the road and proceed through the village into Ystradgynlais. After a mainly flat ride, the climbing starts with a short steep rise, (9%) up onto the cycle path. The path continues to climb very gently for another 4 miles approx, before coming out& turning right onto the main road and shortly after, heading left on to the quiet road to Coelbren. Shortly after there's a very short but steep (max 10%) climb to the car park for Henryhd Falls. The ride will stop here for approx 30 mins to allow time for participants to visit the Falls. Cleats are not advised – bring a pair of trainers. After the Falls, the ride doubles back to Coelbren and the main road, before turning off for the lunch stop in Banwen. Following lunch, there's an undulating 1.5 miles to Onllwyn, before a fast descent to Crynant . The road undulates on south and then falls to Aberdulais, and stays flat through Cadoxton and Neath. Continue undulating on through Skewen where theres another short, steep (max 11%) climb, before riding to Llandarcy, to turn off onto a quiet wooded back road to Jersey Marine for last climb of the day, (.75 mile, max 8%). Through the village, and turn right for Amazon, and follow road, and cycle path back to the marina.
